"I
think you are born a lover of nature and all it encompasses.
That love of wildlife and their place on this earth is
what motivates me. I have been so fortunate that I can unite
this with my love of drawing and painting."
Growing up in Kenya gave Kate an exciting and adventurous early life. Her exotic childhood was filled with exploring wild and wonderful places rich in wildlife, instilling a lifelong passion for nature.
An early ability in painting was nurtured with her first ‘blue-eyed' lion being exhibited when she was five years old. Also raised with an appreciation for art, Kate was fascinated by works of well-known wildlife artists that surrounded her and drove a keen interest to paint wildlife that she has pursued all her life. Depicting her heritage and love of nature, Kate works in graphite and oil, finding both mediums equally interesting and challenging in their individual ways. Kate is especially captivated by the impact that light has on the subjects that she paints.
Now living in Australia, Kate and her husband raise cattle in a picturesque part of the country, the lifestyle complementing her passion for painting, nature and being outdoors. Travelling to immerse herself in new experiences is also part of her philosophy on developing as an artist.
‘I feel it is part of a legacy left to me and I enjoy sharing my passion with others’.
